Overview
Not a general purpose gamepad, the HORI Fighting Commander OCTA is a six button pad built for fighting games, with an octagonal stick gate and clicky microswitch buttons. A slide button stands in for a right stick, and the HORI Device Manager app remaps controls.
Six face buttons and an octagonal gate make special moves and combos easier to land on PC. It is wired only and lists no console support.
Who it's for
Fighting game fans on Windows who prefer a pad to a stick get arcade style buttons. Console players and those who want wireless play should look elsewhere.
Pros and cons
- Six button fighting layout
- Octagonal stick gate
- Slide button for camera or menus
- App based remapping
- Only six face buttons for other genres
Performance notes
Microswitch buttons register with a short, crisp click, so inputs land consistently during fast combos. The octagonal gate guides the stick into the eight directions fighting games read.
