Overview
Not powered speakers, these Definitive Technology satellites are passive and run from an amplifier or receiver. A passive radiator backs up the small mid bass driver, and the bundled articulating brackets let you aim each speaker on the wall.
Small cabinets with a passive radiator and swiveling mounts make a clean wall installation that still points sound at the seats. Their size limits deep bass, so most home theaters will add a subwoofer.
Who it's for
Receiver owners building a compact surround or stereo system get flexible mounting in one order. Listeners without an amplifier, or wanting full bass with no subwoofer, should look elsewhere.
Pros and cons
- Articulating wall brackets included
- Shelf base and keyhole slot too
- Passive radiator boosts bass
- Expands into full surround
- Needs an amplifier or receiver
- Limited deep bass from small drivers
- Impedance not listed
- No speaker wire in the box list
Performance notes
Bass extension comes from the passive radiator working with the small driver inside a compact box, which still falls off before the deepest notes. Imaging improves when the swivel brackets point each speaker at the listening seats.
