Overview
A living room home cinema where large speakers would crowd the space is the target for these Focal Dome satellites. Each small sealed two-way cabinet uses Focal flax driver technology and can go in a wall, in a ceiling, on furniture or on a stand.
Refined sound from very small aluminium cabinets lets a surround setup stay discreet in a styled room. The listing leaves out impedance, power handling and frequency range, and no subwoofer or amplifier comes in the pack.
Who it's for
Suited to living rooms and media rooms where large speakers would clash with the decor. Listeners without a receiver or amplifier in their setup have nothing to drive them.
Pros and cons
- Very compact aluminium cabinets
- Wall, ceiling or shelf placement
- Flax driver technology
- High-gloss lacquered finish
- Impedance and power handling not listed
- No subwoofer included
- Mounting hardware details unclear
- Spec table contains obvious errors
Performance notes
A sealed cabinet controls the small driver's movement for tight, accurate output, while the flax technology aims at better definition and a more linear frequency response, per Focal. Deep bass is beyond cabinets this small, so the subwoofer it is paired with shapes the full result.
