Overview
SABRE's Frontiersman MAX bear spray in the standard 7.9 oz can, packaged as a kit with a belt holster and a bell rather than sold as the can alone. It carries the same 2.0% major capsaicinoid formula, a 40-foot range and 6 to 7 seconds of spray time.
SABRE's own description leans on brand history rather than new specs for this kit, citing more than 50 years in the personal-safety category; the functional details match the brand's other Frontiersman MAX cans at this size. The bell is the differentiator here: it's meant to make ambient noise on the trail so animals hear you coming and a spray encounter never has to happen.
- 2.0% major capsaicinoids, 7.9 oz can
- Belt holster and warning bell included
- Glow-in-the-dark safety clip
- Targets bears, mountain lions, cougars, pumas, bobcats
Who it's for
Hikers and campers who want the holster and bell handled for them in one purchase rather than buying the spray and accessories separately. Model FBADX-04-BB01GN if you're matching this specific kit against SABRE's catalog.
Pros and cons
- Bundles the spray with a holster and bell instead of the can alone
- Same maximum-strength 2.0% formula as SABRE's other Frontiersman MAX products
- Bell offers a passive way to announce your presence
- No bear horn included
- Single-use canister needs replacing after it's discharged
Performance notes
Performance figures match SABRE's other 7.9 oz Frontiersman MAX cans: 2.0% major capsaicinoids, a 40-foot range, and 6 to 7 seconds of total spray time, with a claimed effective range against a mountain lion charging at up to 35 mph. The bell is a passive layer on top of that, meant to reduce the odds of a surprise encounter rather than to deter an animal once it's already close.
