Overview
A traditional single cylinder keyed deadbolt in satin nickel, operated by key outside and thumb turn inside. Uses Kwikset's SmartKey technology so the owner can re-key it without a locksmith.
This is a mechanical deadbolt with no app, WiFi, or keypad, positioned as an affordable, widely fitted option rather than a smart lock. SmartKey re-keying is the headline feature: it lets a new owner change which key opens the lock in seconds at home. Grade 3 is the base BHMA certification tier, not the higher grades sold on premium security deadbolts.
- Fits standard 1-3/8 to 1-3/4 inch doors
- Traditional design to match existing hardware
- SmartKey self re-keying in seconds
- Grade 3 BHMA certified construction
Who it's for
Buyers who want a straightforward keyed deadbolt at an accessible price and the ability to re-key it themselves after moving in. Not for anyone wanting keyless or app-based entry.
Pros and cons
- Self re-keying with SmartKey, no locksmith needed
- Adjustable latch fits either common backset
- Backed by a lifetime mechanical and finish warranty
- Grade 3 is the base BHMA security tier, not the higher grades
- Keyed only, no app or keyless options
Performance notes
SmartKey re-keying is done at home with a small key insert rather than a locksmith visit. The latch backset twists to either 2-3/8 or 2-3/4 inches during installation to match existing door prep, and the lock carries Grade 3 BHMA certification covering security, durability, and finish.
