Overview
Not a bulky round bin, the simplehuman Slim Step Can is a narrow plastic trash can built for gaps between cabinets and walls. Wheels roll it out, a slide lock holds the lid against pets, and the lid closes slowly and quietly.
Space efficiency with pet protection is the case: it fits narrow gaps and the lock stops dogs and cats from raiding it. It is designed around its custom liners, so standard bags may not fit as neatly.
Who it's for
Households with tight kitchens and curious pets that want a quiet lid. People who prefer generic bags may want a can that accepts any liner.
Pros and cons
- Fits narrow spaces
- Wheels for trash day
- Pet-proof slide lock
- Quiet slow close lid
- Designed around brand liners
- Plastic, not steel body
- Liners not listed in box
Performance notes
The steel pedal drives the lid through a linkage rated for heavy use, and Lid Shox damping slows the close to avoid slams. The slide lock holds the lid shut regardless of pet nudges.
