Govee H1630 Lantern Smart Floor Lamp

Overview

Renters and bedroom decorators get a freestanding lantern lamp from Govee that throws a halo of color from a silicone shade on a pole. Poles join between the metal base and the lamp head, and the light runs from the app, a touch control or voice.

Matter support plus app, touch and voice control give the lamp several ways in, and the halo shade spreads light as a glow around the lantern. Adjustable height and color temperature let it shift from a reading corner to a sleep aid. No warranty term appears in the listing, which is worth checking.

Who it's for

Bedroom corners and photography backdrops are where a lantern shaped halo of color does its job. People wanting a focused task lamp aimed at a page should look at a directional head instead.

Pros and cons

Performance notes

Light quality comes from the halo method: the LED source glows through the silicone lantern and spreads color around the shade instead of casting a beam. Height set by the pole sections changes how much wall and ceiling the glow reaches. Dimming and color temperature decide whether it reads as warm sleep light or cooler reading light.
