Overview
A double-ring crab trap from VEVOR with a 24-inch top ring and 20-inch bottom ring, black mesh body, weighing about 4.63 pounds. It folds for portability between dock or shoreline sets.
Double-ring traps like this one lie flat on the bottom baited in the center, then draw closed as the rope pulls the rings together on retrieval, a design built for shoreline or dock crabbing rather than deep-water pots. The size difference between the 24-inch top and 20-inch bottom ring is standard for this trap style and helps the mesh cinch shut.
- 24-inch top ring, 20-inch bottom ring
- Black mesh body
- About 4.63 pounds
- Foldable, portable design
Who it's for
Shoreline and dock crabbers who want a foldable, easy-to-store trap rather than a rigid wire pot. Not built for deep-water or commercial-scale crabbing.
Pros and cons
- Folds flat for easy transport and storage
- Lightweight at under 5 pounds
- 24-inch ring size suited to dock or shore crabbing
- Mesh body only, no rigid frame for rough bottoms
- Not sized for deep-water drops
Performance notes
Ring traps work by lying open and flat on the bottom, baited in the middle, then cinching shut as the mesh is pulled up by its rope, which lets crabs walk on and feed before the trap closes around them. At 24 inches across the top ring, this size suits casting from a dock or wading distance rather than deep drops, and the light 4.63 pound weight keeps it easy to haul repeatedly.
