Overview
A sealed PC and TPE shell blocks water and dust on this Radioddity radio, and the radio floats if dropped overboard. Vibration alerts and VOX make it usable on noisy sites and hands-free.
Toughness plus floating makes it a radio you can hand to anyone on a kayak trip or work crew. FRS limits mean no repeaters and no external antenna.
Who it's for
Construction sites, cruises and lake days suit a floating sealed radio with an SOS button. Groups needing repeaters or extended range should look at GMRS radios.
Pros and cons
- Floats and survives submersion
- Drop-tested rugged body
- Vibrate alerts for loud places
- SOS signal to another radio
- FRS power and range limits
- No repeater support
- Bulky next to pocket radios
Performance notes
Range is governed by terrain and line of sight more than the radio, so hills and buildings shorten it. The sealed shell and floating body protect the electronics on water.
