Electric Toothbrushes

Electric toothbrushes split into two main designs: models whose small round head can Oscillate and rotate back and forth, and sonic models whose heads Vibrate and sweep side to side at high speed. Both do a thorough job when used for the full time and held at the right angle; the choice comes down to which feel you prefer and which brush heads you are happy to buy for years. This category also carries a few oral care extras, so check that the listing is a brush.

Brush head cost and availability are the real long term decision. Heads usually need replacing every few months, so check what replacements cost and whether the handle accepts a range of heads, such as sensitive, whitening or orthodontic heads. Bristle hardness labels such as Soft and Extra Soft are worth following if your gums are sensitive.

Features are the next choice. A two minute timer with quadrant pacing, a pressure sensor that warns when you brush too hard, and several cleaning modes are useful; app connectivity matters to some people and not to others. Battery life varies widely, so travellers should look at how long a charge lasts and whether a travel case is included. Children's models have smaller heads and gentler modes, and some families prefer one handle with several coloured heads rather than one brush each. Noise and handle size are worth checking too, since some powerful handles feel bulky in smaller hands.

Before buying, check the charger type and whether the handle is rechargeable or uses batteries, how many heads are in the box, and how easy it is to find replacement heads. If you have dental work or gum problems, ask your dentist which motion and head type they recommend.

How we list products: every listing here has a recorded price, a minimum customer rating and enough ratings or monthly sales. Generic and unbranded listings are left out; every real brand stays, including brands sold only on Amazon. Products are ordered by the same ProductDome score on every page.Editorial policy
