Overview
A Bio-Foam block holds beneficial bacteria in this Tetra power filter while dual sided mesh and activated carbon handle debris and odor. Large Bio-Bag cartridges slide out for a monthly change.
Larger community tanks get more flow with the same easy cartridge routine. The body is wide, and refills are an ongoing purchase.
Who it's for
Hobbyists with larger freshwater tanks who want simple maintenance will use the higher flow. Those with cramped stands or rims should measure first.
Pros and cons
- Higher flow for larger tanks
- Three stage filtration
- Simple cartridge changes
- Bio-Foam stays in place
- Wide body needs rim space
- Refill cartridges sold separately
- Monthly changes required
Performance notes
Flow sets how often the tank volume passes through the media, and a clogging cartridge reduces it over the month. Carbon handles odors until saturated. Keeping the foam during cartridge changes protects the bacterial colony.
