Overview
The Petmate Ultra Vari is a 48-inch two-piece plastic travel crate built for extra large dogs weighing 90 to 125 pounds. It ships in taupe, is made in the USA, and is described as airline-friendly for owners who need a crate for both home and flights.
This is Petmate's largest Vari kennel size, aimed at giant-breed dogs rather than the mid-size models sold under the same line. Because the listing does not include full spec details like door type or ventilation count, buyers should confirm exact interior dimensions against their dog's measurements before ordering. The airline-friendly claim refers to the crate's construction style, not a guarantee of acceptance by any specific carrier.
- 48-inch length for extra large dogs
- Heavy-duty plastic shell construction
- Made in USA
- Described as airline-friendly
Who it's for
Owners of extra large dogs, roughly 90 to 125 pounds, who need a hard-sided crate for home confinement, car travel, or air travel. Less useful for smaller dogs, where a properly sized crate will fit and confine more securely.
Pros and cons
- Sized for extra large dogs up to 125 lbs
- Made in USA
- Positioned for both home and travel use
- Listing lacks detailed interior dimensions or door specs
- Airline acceptance depends on the carrier, not guaranteed by the crate alone
Performance notes
As a two-piece plastic shell crate, it relies on a solid molded body rather than wire mesh, which typically makes it more secure for travel and less prone to flexing under a large dog's weight. The exact latch, door, and ventilation details are not specified in this listing, so owners planning air travel should verify current airline crate requirements separately.
