Overview
An XL heavy-duty dog crate from SONGMICS HOME built for large breed dogs, with a removable tray, lockable caster wheels, expandable panels and an alloy steel frame measuring 42.1 by 27.6 by 32.5 inches.
Steel-framed crates like this trade portability weight, at 47.4 pounds, for a sturdier build than wire folding crates typically offer, aimed at large dogs that need a more secure enclosure. The four caster wheels, two with brakes, let the crate be repositioned within a room and then locked in place, which folding crates without wheels can't do. It ships requiring assembly, standard for a crate this size and weight.
- 42.1 x 27.6 x 32.5 inch large breed sizing
- Alloy steel frame construction
- 4 casters, 2 with brakes, lockable wheels
- Removable tray and door
Who it's for
Suits owners of large breed dogs needing a stationary indoor crate that can still be rolled between rooms and locked in place. Owners wanting a lightweight travel crate should look elsewhere given the steel frame's near 50 pound weight.
Pros and cons
- Lockable caster wheels for repositioning without lifting
- Removable tray for easier cleaning
- Alloy steel frame rated for large breeds
- 47.4 pounds, heavy for anyone needing to move it often without wheels locked
- Assembly required out of the box
Performance notes
The alloy steel frame and single-level layout give a large dog room while keeping the structure rigid compared to lighter wire crates. Lockable casters let the crate roll for cleaning or repositioning, then stay fixed in place during normal use, and the removable tray simplifies cleanup without disassembling the frame.
