Overview
A drum circle, a campsite or a classroom can use this Toca djembe, which pairs a tough synthetic shell with a hand-selected goatskin head. It is rope tuned, finished in a lacquered fiesta look. The description says it can be carried over the shoulder.
The reason to buy is a light shell with real goatskin and a traditional rope tuning. The limit is that rope tuning takes more effort than a key, and the listing names no warranty or carry accessories.
Who it's for
Players at drum circles and outdoor gatherings will use the light shell and goatskin head. Anyone wanting quick tuning with a key, or a warranty, should consider a different djembe.
Pros and cons
- Light synthetic shell
- Bold fiesta finish
- Rope tuning takes effort
- Warranty listed as not applicable
- Carry bag not listed
- Shell is synthetic, not wood
Performance notes
The goatskin head produces the rich bass and piercing highs the listing describes, and rope tension sets the pitch. A synthetic shell resists the knocks that carrying brings. Tuning requires adjusting the ropes by hand.
