Overview
Listening on the go is the job here: the Insignia NS-P5113 spins a single disc, plays MP3 files burned to CD-R and has an FM tuner for radio. Sound goes out through a headphone jack to the included earphone, and power comes from AA batteries.
Playing burned MP3 discs and FM radio from one battery-powered unit covers commutes and travel without a phone. No speaker output is described, so as far as the listing shows it is a headphone-only device.
Who it's for
Commuters, travelers and listeners who still keep music on discs are the setting, with radio as a backup. People who want built-in speakers or Bluetooth headphones should look at another player.
Pros and cons
- Plays MP3 files from burned CD-R
- Built-in FM tuner
- Remote control included
- Earphone in the box
- Battery life not listed
- No anti-skip protection stated
- No built-in speaker mentioned
- Wired headphone output only
Performance notes
Playback runs from AA cells, so listening time depends on battery quality and how often the disc spins up. Without a listed anti-skip buffer, movement during playback can interrupt the disc. Sound quality is set by the headphones plugged into the jack, since the player has no listed speaker.
