A NOAA weather radio for an emergency kit that adds a phone charger and an LED light. The listing is thin, so check its power options and bands with the seller before counting on it in an outage.

Overview
Families stocking an emergency kit get an Eton weather radio made for the American Red Cross that tunes NOAA broadcasts. A smartphone charger and an integrated LED light are built in, and it runs on AAA batteries supplied in the box.
Crisp speech from NOAA broadcasts, a phone charger and an integrated light cover the basics of storm preparation in one unit. Detail is the weak spot: the listing does not describe power sources beyond AAA batteries or how much charge it can pass to a phone.
Who it's for
Households in storm country who want weather broadcasts, a light and a phone top-up in one box are the target. Shoppers who need documented power options or band details should look for a listing with fuller specs.
Pros and cons
- Receives NOAA weather broadcasts
- Crisp, clear speech per listing
- Smartphone charger built in
- Integrated LED light
- Crank or solar power not listed
- Too large for a pocket
- Weight differs between title and specs
- Sparse specs and truncated feature bullets
Performance notes
Usable reception rests on the antenna, the distance to the nearest NOAA transmitter and the state of the batteries. How long it plays, and how much it can give a phone, depends on its power source, which the listing describes only as AAA batteries. Stock spare cells in the kit.

Frequently asked questions
What setup does the Eton FRX3 need before it goes in an emergency kit?
The listing says 3 AAA batteries are required and included, so fitting them is the main step. No other setup is described, so test reception on a NOAA channel at home before a storm.
Does the Eton FRX3 have a hand crank or solar panel?
The listing does not mention either. It lists 3 AAA batteries as the power source, so confirm other charging options with the seller.
