Overview
Not a pocket radio for daily music, the Midland ER310 is an emergency weather and alert radio built around NOAA weather scanning with AM/FM reception. It runs on solar power or AA batteries and adds an SOS flashlight and an ultrasonic dog whistle for outages and outdoor trips.
Weather alerts and broadcast radio in one unit that does not depend on wall power make it well suited to an outage kit. The listing is thin on detail, with no explanation of the USB role or every power source, so expect to read the manual.
Who it's for
Storm country households, campers and people stocking a go bag will get the most from it. Those who want a waterproof radio for the water or a streaming speaker for the kitchen should look elsewhere.
Pros and cons
- NOAA weather scan and alert built in
- Runs on solar or AA batteries
- AA batteries come in the box
- SOS flashlight for outages
- Not water resistant
- USB output rating not listed
- Listing has no feature bullets or description
Performance notes
Weather alert reception depends on the distance to the broadcasting NOAA station and on where the radio is placed, so a spot near a window usually helps. Solar power depends on direct sun, which makes the included AA batteries the dependable source after dark or on cloudy days.
