A simple retractable drive for moving documents, photos and music between computers, with password protection for private files. The older USB interface and unlisted transfer rates make it a weak match for large video libraries.

Overview
Not a portable SSD or a phone drive, the SanDisk Cruzer Glide is a pocket flash drive whose connector slides out for use and back in for transport. Bundled SecureAccess software sets up a password protected area while the rest of the drive stays open for sharing.
Everyday file carry is what it does well, with a retractable connector and a password protected area for private files. Speed is where it falls back: it uses the older USB standard and the listing gives no read or write figures.
Who it's for
Students, office staff and people sharing files between a PC and a Mac will find it easy to carry. Those who shuttle large video files or need a USB-C plug should choose a drive with listed speeds and that connector.
Pros and cons
- Retractable connector, nothing to misplace
- Password protection with 128-bit AES
- Works on PC and Mac
- Very light at 9.07 g
- USB 2.0 interface only
- Read and write speeds not listed
- Mac encryption needs a separate software download
- Warranty listed as both 5 and 2 years
Performance notes
Transfer speed is set by the older USB interface and the flash inside, and the listing gives no figures for reads or writes. Small documents and photos move without fuss, while large video files take noticeably longer. Password protection runs in SecureAccess software, and on a Mac that software must be downloaded first.

Frequently asked questions
What comes with the SanDisk Cruzer Glide 32GB?
The drive itself plus SanDisk SecureAccess software for password protection. On a Mac the software is a separate download, and no cable or adapter is listed.
Is the full 32GB usable on the Cruzer Glide?
No. SanDisk counts 1GB as 1,000,000,000 bytes and notes that actual user storage is less.
Does SecureAccess lock the whole Cruzer Glide drive?
No. It password protects private files with 128-bit AES encryption while leaving the rest of the drive available for sharing.
How fast is the SanDisk Cruzer Glide?
The listing gives no read or write speeds, only the USB 2.0 interface.
How long is the Cruzer Glide warranty?
The specs say 5 year limited, while the description mentions a 2-year limited warranty that varies by region. Check SanDisk's site for your region.
