Overview
Korg's mini rhythm machine is a compact drum pattern player with a built-in speaker, performance pads for programming beats and a chain function that strings patterns and fills into songs.
The reason to buy is an instant drummer for solo practice: ready patterns and fills plus pads for programming your own grooves. The limit is that this version carries no warranty and the battery details are unlisted.
Who it's for
A guitarist, bassist or keyboard player practicing alone who wants more feel than a metronome gives. Anyone who requires warranty protection or documented sound sets should look at the standard version.
Pros and cons
- Chain function for songs
- Runs on batteries
- No warranty on this version
- Footswitches sold separately
- Battery type not listed
Performance notes
Velocity-sensitive pads respond to how hard they are struck, so programmed grooves sound more natural. The chaining function links patterns and fills into a whole song. Footswitches can start and stop playback or trigger fills on the fly.
