Purina Pro Plan Small Breed Lamb and Rice Dry Dog Food 6 lb

Overview

Purina Pro Plan's Small Breed High Protein recipe is a shredded-blend dry kibble made with lamb and rice, sold in a 6 lb bag and formulated for adult small breed dogs.

The shredded blend mixes different kibble textures rather than a single uniform piece, which Purina markets as a way to hold a dog's interest across a bag. Lamb is listed as the special ingredient, with the formula built around probiotic and prebiotic support alongside the usual bone and joint claims common to Pro Plan's line. One field in the listing labels the diet type as veterinary while another field marks it non-prescription, so this reads as a standard adult maintenance food rather than an actual prescription diet.

• Lamb and rice shredded blend formula
• Sized for adult small breed dogs
• Includes probiotics and prebiotics
• 6 lb (96 oz) bag

Who it's for

Suited to owners of adult small breed dogs looking for a mainstream, widely available kibble with a lamb and rice formula. Not aimed at dogs with a diagnosed condition requiring a genuine prescription veterinary diet.

Pros and cons

Performance notes

The shredded texture combines chunks and kibble pieces in one bag, a format meant to add variety rather than change nutrition. Probiotic and prebiotic ingredients target digestive support, which is the more concrete of the health claims listed. At 6 lb, the bag suits a single small dog for a reasonable stretch before needing a refill.
