Overview
Printing, scanning and copying black and white documents at a steady clip is the job here, with automatic two-sided printing to save paper. Phones connect directly over Wi-Fi Direct with no router, and a tiltable five-line display handles the menus.
Canon makes upkeep simple with a single cartridge that combines toner and drum, and the machine draws very little power in sleep. It has no fax, and the listing is unclear on the scanner type.
Who it's for
Home offices and small businesses printing text documents get a compact laser with mobile printing. Anyone who sends faxes or scans long stacks should look at a model with those features listed.
Pros and cons
- Wi-Fi Direct without a router
- Single toner-and-drum cartridge
- Very low sleep power
- Ethernet and USB too
- Modest paper capacity
- Warranty terms unclear
Performance notes
Page speed comes from a monochrome laser engine, and automatic duplex prints both sides without manual flipping. The all-in-one cartridge replaces toner and drum together. Energy saver mode cuts power draw sharply when idle.
