Overview
Seagate sized this portable drive for laptop backups, with room for photos, music and documents. Connect the single cable and the computer recognizes it automatically, no software needed.
Twice the room of the smaller model in the same light body suits growing photo libraries. Warranty terms are inconsistent in the listing, which matters for a backup device.
Who it's for
Families and students storing photo libraries and schoolwork get a light, roomy drive. Editors working directly off a drive need an SSD.
Pros and cons
- Roomy for its size
- Light and compact
- No software needed
- Rescue Services listed
- Warranty details conflict
- Mechanical drive speed
- Color listed inconsistently
Performance notes
The spinning drive moves large files steadily over USB, but runs slower than flash storage on many small files. Keeping it still during transfers protects the moving parts.
