Overview
Laptop owners on Windows or Mac get a slim Seagate drive that backs up with one click or on a schedule, powered by its USB cable. Data recovery services and photo software subscriptions come with it.
Rescue recovery services add insurance against lost files, and backup scheduling runs without effort. A mechanical disk needs gentle handling and moves files slower than flash storage.
Who it's for
Students and home users protecting photos and documents. Creators working off the drive should choose an SSD.
Pros and cons
- Scheduled automatic backups
- Data recovery service included
- Photo software included
- Brushed metal enclosure
- Spinning disk speed
- Time Machine may need reformatting
- Sensitive to drops while running
Performance notes
Throughput is set by the mechanical disk, which suits backups and media storage. Scheduled backups run in the background at the chosen interval. Rescue services cover recovery if files are lost or the drive fails.
