Overview
Not a hand-read bucket, this is a wireless rain gauge with a self-emptying collector and an indoor LCD display. The screen shows recent rainfall totals, and a preset alarm sounds when your chosen rainfall level is reached.
Daily and weekly totals on an indoor screen answer whether the lawn needs water, and the preset alarm flags heavy rain. The collector empties itself. The limitation is that the sensor type is listed as tipping bucket or weighing without saying which, and battery information is thin.
Who it's for
Gardeners and casual weather watchers who want rain totals without going outside will like the display. The alarm can warn of flood conditions. Anyone wanting more than rainfall should look at a weather station.
Pros and cons
- Indoor LCD totals
- Customizable rainfall alarm
- Recent history shown
- Sensor type listed ambiguously
- Battery details not listed
Performance notes
The outdoor collector measures rainfall and empties itself, then sends the reading to the indoor display. The screen holds today, yesterday and weekly totals, and the alarm triggers at the total you preset. Placement in the open, away from overhangs, affects the readings.
