Overview
This SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Go pairs a USB-C plug with a USB-A plug on one 64GB body, so a single drive can move files between a USB-C phone or Mac and an older USB-A laptop without carrying an adapter.
SanDisk rates it at up to 150MB/s read over USB 3.1 Gen 1, and buyers who ran their own benchmarks found it holds close to that number rather than falling short of the spec sheet.
- Dual USB Type-C and Type-A connectors in one drive
- Rated up to 150MB/s USB 3.1 read speed
- SanDisk Memory Zone app for automatic photo backup
- 64GB capacity in a keychain-sized body
Who it's for
It suits anyone who regularly shuttles files between a USB-C phone or tablet and a USB-A desktop or laptop and wants to skip carrying an adapter. It is a weaker fit for someone who wants a drive tough enough to survive being tossed loose in a bag or backpack.
Pros and cons
- Reversible USB-C and USB-A ends, no adapter
- Read speeds close to the rated 150MB/s
- Lightweight and small enough for a keychain
- Works as an OTG drive on Android phones
- Plastic housing feels less rugged than metal drives
- Small size makes it easy to misplace
- Write speeds lag well behind read speeds
Performance notes
It also works as an OTG drive on Android phones, and one reviewer ran it well enough to boot a Linux Mint session directly from it.
