Overview
Callaway's Mavrik Max hybrid is a cavity back hybrid club with a graphite shaft and a Lamkin Sonar grip. It is built in a right hand version with ladies flex, and a headcover comes with it.
A hybrid replaces a hard to hit long iron with a more forgiving head, and graphite in the shaft holds the swing weight modest. The limitation is that the listing covers a single loft and flex, and no club weight or lie angle is given.
Who it's for
Players with moderate swing speeds who want a forgiving hybrid in a ladies flex. Left handed golfers and faster swingers should choose a different hand or flex.
Pros and cons
- Cavity back head for forgiveness
- Standard grip size
- Ladies flex only here
- Right hand only
- Club weight and lie angle missing
Performance notes
A cavity back design moves weight to the edges of the head, which makes off center strikes less costly. Graphite shafts are light and help a golfer with a moderate swing speed produce clubhead speed. Loft sets the launch and how far the ball carries compared with the irons around it.
