Overview
The Pelican Sentinel 100X (model MBF10P100-00) is a 9 foot 6 inch sit-on-top angler kayak weighing 44 lbs, built from Pelican's Ram-X material with a multi-chine flat-bottom hull for casting stability.
At 44 lbs it is the lightest kayak in this batch, which makes it easier to lift onto a roof rack or carry to the water alone. The tradeoff is a lower 275 lb capacity than the other fishing kayaks here, so it fits a lighter paddler better than a heavier one.
- 44 lb hull weight
- Ram-X hull material
- Removable ExoPak tank-well storage
- Built to meet or exceed ABYC flotation standards
Who it's for
Paddlers who prioritize light weight and easy transport for shorter trips, provided their weight stays comfortably within the 275 lb capacity.
Pros and cons
- Only 44 lbs, easiest kayak here to lift and carry
- Removable ExoPak storage fits into the tank well
- Multi-chine flat-bottom hull for casting stability
- Extra internal flotation built toward ABYC standards
- 275 lb capacity is lower than other fishing kayaks in this batch
- Shorter 9'6" length trades glide and speed for portability
Performance notes
A multi-chine flat-bottom hull is built to stay steady while casting and reeling in fish, and Pelican adds extra internal flotation intended to meet or exceed ABYC standards. The 9 foot 6 inch length favors portability over glide or top speed.
