Overview
A color laser engine with HP's self-healing security firmware drives this workgroup printer, checking firmware at startup and watching memory for attacks. A small color display lets users release jobs at the printer.
Security and central management suit businesses with IT policies more than home users. It is a printer only, and its size and power draw fit an office.
Who it's for
Offices with IT oversight and sensitive documents suit it. Home users would find it bulky and over-specified.
Pros and cons
- Strong built-in security
- Color laser output
- Central management with Web JetAdmin
- Card reader support
- Heavy and large
- Wi-Fi not listed
- Spec sheet wrongly lists copy and scan
Performance notes
Laser toner is fused onto the page, so prints are dry and smudge-resistant as they exit. Security firmware verifies itself at boot and monitors memory, which blocks malware before it reaches documents. First page times are short, so small jobs come out quickly.
