Overview
Not a basic two layer distance ball, the Callaway Chrome Soft stacks a graphene reinforced dual core, a stiff mantle and a thin cover. That layering gives low spin on full shots and more spin on wedges.
Long game speed and short game control come from one ball here, thanks to a layered build that changes spin by shot type. The green and white Truvis pattern on this dozen is distinctive, so players wanting a plain white ball should look at another color.
Who it's for
Suited to regular players and lower handicaps who use spin to control approach shots. Golfers wanting a classic white look should choose a different color option.
Pros and cons
- Large core adds launch off driver
- Graphene outer core resists wear
- Spin rises on wedge shots
- Thin cover stays soft near greens
- Novelty color may not suit all
- Compression not listed
- Diameter not given in the listing
Performance notes
Spin control comes from the layering: full swings compress the large core and keep spin low, while short shots engage the stiff mantle and thin cover for more bite. The dimple design lowers drag and raises ball flight.
