Overview
Amazon's 8-inch tablet with 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, a 5MP rear camera, and Alexa built in, aimed at portable video, reading, and browsing rather than heavy multitasking. It suits casual streaming, reading, and light app use rather than gaming or productivity work.
- 8-inch HD display, up to 4GB RAM
- 64GB storage, expandable via microSD
- Up to 13 hours mixed-use battery life
- Alexa built in with parental controls
Who it's for
People who want a light, affordable tablet mainly for reading, streaming, and casual browsing, including as a kids' device given the parental controls. Not a good match for anyone who wants Google Play apps, Chrome, or heavier gaming and multitasking.
Performance notes
The 8-inch HD display runs on a hexa-core processor with up to 4GB RAM, double the prior generation, and 64GB of storage expandable via microSD. Amazon rates battery life at up to 13 hours of mixed reading, browsing, video, and music use. Apps come through Amazon's Appstore rather than Google Play, so Chrome and some other apps are not available, though Facebook, Hulu, Instagram, and TikTok are supported.
