Overview
A campsite, a hunting stand or a power outage at home is where this BAOFENG handheld fits, receiving weather alerts on NOAA channels. It covers VHF and UHF, copies another radio's frequency at a button press, and charges by USB-C.
Weather alerts, an airband and FM receiver plus a flashlight make it a versatile all round outdoor radio. It is analog only, not water resistant, and no warranty is listed.
Who it's for
Outdoor users and emergency kits benefit from NOAA alerts and simple frequency copying. Digital radio users and those working in heavy rain should choose different gear.
Pros and cons
- NOAA weather channels
- Frequency copy without a computer
- USB-C and desktop charging
- Long high-gain antenna
- Not water resistant
- No warranty listed
Performance notes
Range depends on terrain, height and the antenna; the longer high-gain antenna improves reach over the stock one. The copy feature reads another radio's transmission directly, skipping computer programming.
