Overview
A large color screen and keypad drive this GMRS radio, which scans channels, programs repeaters and receives NOAA weather broadcasts. Each battery charges by USB-C or on a base charger.
Weather alerts plus repeater support make it a capable emergency and outdoor radio for families and groups. It is listed as not water resistant, which limits it in wet weather.
Who it's for
Hunting parties, campers and households building emergency kits who want weather alerts and repeater use. Paddlers and anyone working in heavy rain need a water resistant radio.
Pros and cons
- NOAA weather alerts
- App programming without a cable
- Two charging options
- Flashlight and AM/FM receive
- Not water resistant
- Range drops sharply in cities
- No warranty listed
Performance notes
Range depends on terrain: open ground carries farthest, forest less, and buildings cut it the most, as the listing's own figures show. Repeater programming extends reach where a repeater is available, and the battery save mode stretches standby.
