Overview
The GYMAX Olympic folding trap bar (model GM1929) is a 56 inch chrome hex bar built from steel with an 800 lb capacity, dual knurled swivel handles, and a folding frame for storage.
The swivel handles get called out as more comfortable on the wrists than fixed hex bar handles, especially for smaller lifters whose hands sit closer to the frame.
- 56 inch chrome hex bar
- 800 lb weight capacity
- Dual knurled swivel handles
- Folding frame for storage
Who it's for
Fits home gym owners with standard 1 inch plates who want a trap bar for deadlifts, shrugs, squats, and farmer carries without buying true Olympic sleeves. Less suited to lifters who already own Olympic (2 inch) plate collections, since this bar is not built for that sleeve size.
Pros and cons
- Swivel handles reduce wrist strain during lifts
- Solid welds with no reported rust or breakage
- Folds for easier home storage
- Sized for standard 1 inch plates, not Olympic 2 inch plates
- Bar diameter runs slightly under 1 inch, so third-party clamps may not fit
- Grip knurling can feel rough without gloves
