Z Grills ZPG-450E PRO Smoker

Overview

This Z Grills pellet smoker weighs 90 lb and is built in stainless steel, running on an auger-fed pellet hopper rather than an open flame the cook manages by hand. It fits Z Grills' pellet smoker lineup aimed at low-and-slow cooking.

Pellet smokers like this one trade the hands-on fire management of charcoal for a more set-and-monitor style of cooking, useful for long low-and-slow sessions such as ribs or brisket. At 90 lb it is heavy enough to feel stable outdoors but still light enough to move with two people. The spec sheet does not list cooking area or BTU output, so exact capacity is not confirmed here.

• Pellet fuel system
• Stainless steel build
• 90 lb unit weight
• Silver finish

Who it's for

Suits someone moving from charcoal or gas into low-and-slow smoking who wants a stainless pellet unit rather than a fully insulated competition-style smoker.

Pros and cons

Performance notes

Pellet smokers regulate temperature automatically by feeding wood pellets from a hopper, which generally makes long cooks easier to manage than tending charcoal, though the exact temperature range and hopper capacity are not given here.
