HiBy R4 Android Digital Audio Player

Overview

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth radios turn the HiBy player into a networked music device, while a microSD slot extends the internal memory for a large library. A Type-C cable handles charging and data, and the box adds a protective case and screen protectors.

Separating music from the phone is the argument for it: dedicated storage, card expansion, an equalizer and Hi-Res Audio support in one pocket device with its own battery. The listing is thin on audio detail, naming only two formats and no headphone output specs, so check before relying on it for a large hi-res library.

Who it's for

Suited to commuters and travelers who want music on a device separate from the phone, with room to grow through microSD. Listeners who need published output and format specs before buying will find the listing too thin.

Pros and cons

Performance notes

Playback time depends on screen use and the wireless radios, since Wi-Fi and Bluetooth draw on the same battery that powers the display. Sound shaping runs through the built-in equalizer, and library size is set by the microSD card you add rather than the modest internal memory.
