Overview
Samvix built the iPlatinum player as a kosher music device: it plays audio files and recordings but has no radio, video or Wi-Fi. A touch screen, built-in speaker and Bluetooth for headphones handle listening, and it comes preloaded with prayers and seforim.
A filtered device for music and learning without internet is the reason to buy. Long battery life and expandable storage suit heavy listeners. It still includes a photo camera, which matters to families with strict rules.
Who it's for
Students, kids and adults in observant homes who listen to shiurim and music will use it daily. Those wanting streaming services need a regular smartphone or player.
Pros and cons
- No radio, video or Wi-Fi
- Preloaded with prayers
- Long battery life
- Bluetooth for headphones
- Camera may not suit all
- No streaming apps
- Screen size modest
Performance notes
Battery life depends on screen use and Bluetooth, so listening with the screen off stretches it furthest. Storage expansion holds large audio libraries. Many audio formats play without conversion.
