Overview
Not a basic thumb drive, this PNY drive reaches SSD like speeds on a current high speed USB port in a metal shell. It works on older USB ports too, at their slower rates.
Fast writes make it practical for moving large video files between computers. It needs a current USB port for full speed, and there is no USB-C plug for newer laptops.
Who it's for
Video editors, photographers and gamers moving big files will notice the speed. Owners of USB-C only laptops will need an adapter.
Pros and cons
- Very fast reads and writes
- Works on older USB ports
- Two year warranty
- Type-A plug only
- Full speed needs Gen 2 port
- No encryption listed
- Weight not listed
Performance notes
Transfer speed depends on the port: full speed requires the matching high speed USB generation, while older ports limit throughput. Sustained writes on large files hold up better than on standard drives. Usable capacity is a little less than the label after formatting.
