Overview
PNY designed the Elite-X Fit as a low-profile USB-C drive that stays plugged into a phone, tablet or laptop without blocking nearby ports. It moves photos, videos and music off mobile devices and onto computers for longer-term storage.
Its stubby shape barely protrudes, so it can live in a laptop port. Phones need OTG support, and bulky cases can block the connector.
Who it's for
IPhone, iPad and Android users with USB-C get quick local backups to carry to a PC or Mac. People with older USB-A-only computers would need an adapter.
Pros and cons
- Very small, low-profile
- Large capacity for photos and video
- Fast read speed
- Works with phones and laptops
- USB-C only, no USB-A plug
- Requires OTG on mobile devices
- Small size is easy to lose
Performance notes
Read speed is double the write speed, so copying files off the drive is quicker than filling it. Full speed needs a matching USB port, and older ports slow transfers. The short body stays out of the way while plugged in.
