Overview
Glacier Fresh sells this filter as a drop-in replacement for the GE XWFE and XWF refrigerator water filters. It is a single plastic cartridge certified to a standard that covers aesthetic impurities such as taste and odor.
A replacement that matches the named GE filter models gives a refrigerator with a built-in filter slot a fresh cartridge. The limitation is scope, because the certification covers aesthetic impurities and the listing does not name contaminants beyond odor.
Who it's for
A household with a matching GE refrigerator that wants to refresh the filter will use this part directly. Owners of other brands or models, or buyers who need health-related contaminant reduction, should look for a different filter.
Pros and cons
- Replacement for two GE filter models
- NSF 42 certified
- Single plastic cartridge
- Compact size for its role
- Aesthetic impurities only
- Contaminant list is short
- Replacement interval not listed
- Compatible refrigerator list is limited
Performance notes
Water passes through the cartridge on its way to the dispenser and ice maker, where the filter media reduces taste and odor. That standard speaks to taste and odor, not to other contaminants. Fit depends on the refrigerator using the named GE cartridge style.
