Overview
A first treasure hunt for a child is the setting for this Bounty Hunter Junior detector. It carries a coil sized for small hands, signals finds with beeps, and has a discrimination mode to separate target types. The shaft adjusts to the child's height.
Low weight and simple controls make it easy for a child to swing for a whole outing. It is a starter tool, so depth, waterproofing and batteries are not described in the listing.
Who it's for
Kids starting out at coin and trinket hunting can swing a light detector and hear clear beeps. Teens and adults wanting performance figures or a waterproof coil should choose a fuller-featured model.
Pros and cons
- Very light for a child to carry
- Adjustable shaft length
- Beep alerts for finds
- Discrimination mode included
- Depth rating not given
- Battery type not listed
- Waterproofing not stated
Performance notes
The coil sends out a signal and reacts to metal under the surface, with a beep telling the child something is there. Coil size limits depth and sensitivity, and discrimination mode lets the user skip some unwanted metals while searching.
