A bright aluminum snare with Tama hardware designed to stay out of the drummer's way. The listing gives no head or stand details, and the weight figure is clearly wrong.

Overview
A studio or stage kit that needs a snare with some bite is the setting for this Tama Starphonic. The shell is brushed aluminum with a shaped bearing edge, and hardware includes a Freedom Lug and a linear-drive strainer. The sound is described as bright and resonant.
The reason to buy is a bright, projecting aluminum snare with thoughtful hardware. The limit is that the listing says nothing about heads, lug count or hoop type beyond its grooved shape, and the weight is a listing error.
Who it's for
Drummers who need to cut through a loud mix will like the aluminum shell and tight low end. Players who prefer a warm, dark backbeat should look at a wood shell.
Pros and cons
- Bright, resonant sound
- Freedom Lug hardware
- Grooved Hoop for projection
- Two year warranty
- Not a warm wood tone
- Weight listed incorrectly
- Head type not listed
- Stand not included
Performance notes
The shaped bearing edge enhances resonance, and the Grooved Hoop adds incisive projection and a tight low end. The hi-carbon snare wires give a crisp attack. Tension and head choice govern the final pitch.
