Overview
A stage or studio kit of any color or style can take this matte black snare, a Tama Metalworks model with a steel shell in a four by thirteen inch size. The maker describes the all black look as classy and understated.
The reason to look at it is the plain matte black appearance, which blends in with other hardware. The limitation is how little the listing says about hardware or tone, and the listed weight looks like a placeholder.
Who it's for
Drummers adding a snare to a set with mixed hardware colors will find the finish the main point. Buyers who need snare wire, lug or head details should look at a listing that states them.
Pros and cons
- Matte black finish
- Two year warranty
- Understated look suits any kit
- Lug and snare wire details absent
- Listed weight looks like a placeholder
- Sold as the drum alone
Performance notes
Shell material and depth govern the pitch and decay of a snare, and here the shell is steel. Heads, tuning and snare wires, none of which are described, will shape the sound more than the finish. The listing gives no sound description to go on.
