Overview
A freeze-dried raw dog food in chicken flavor, grain free and AAFCO formulated, sold as a 7 pound bag meant to be rehydrated with water before serving. Made by Wellness Pet under the Sojos brand.
The instruction to add water before serving is the key handling detail: this is a dehydrated raw-style food reconstituted at feeding time, not a ready-to-serve kibble or wet food. It is grain free with flaxseed among the special ingredients and labeled gelatin free.
- 7 lb bag, chicken flavor
- Freeze-dried raw, add water before serving
- Grain free, AAFCO formulated
- Contains flaxseed, gelatin free
Who it's for
Owners wanting a grain-free, freeze-dried raw diet they rehydrate themselves for an active adult dog. Not for owners wanting a no-prep food, since water needs to be added before serving.
Pros and cons
- Grain free, AAFCO formulated recipe
- Freeze-dried raw format preserves ingredients
- Suits all breed sizes per the listing
- Requires adding water before serving, not ready to eat
- 7 lb bag is a smaller size, may need frequent reorders for larger dogs
Performance notes
Freeze-drying removes moisture while preserving the raw ingredients, which is why the food needs water added back in before serving rather than being fed dry from the bag. AAFCO formulation is cited as the nutritional adequacy standard behind the recipe, and flaxseed is listed among the special ingredients.
