Overview
Primal's freeze dried chicken nuggets pack a raw-style diet into a shelf-stable form, meant to serve as a complete meal, a food topper, or a treat. The formula is grain free with no added hormones and lists organic ingredients among its components.
Freeze drying preserves a raw-format diet without refrigeration, which is the main distinction from Primal's frozen raw line and from standard kibble. The label's ingredient breakdown covers chicken, produce, organ meat, bone content, and organic components, aimed at owners already feeding a raw or raw-adjacent diet. Ranked number 12 among freeze-dried dog foods, it holds a strong position in a smaller, more specialized category than mainstream kibble.
- Freeze-dried raw nuggets
- Complete and balanced meal
- Grain-free chicken formula
- 14 oz bag
Who it's for
Dog owners feeding a raw or freeze-dried diet who want the convenience of serving without sourcing and handling raw meat directly. Less suited to owners who simply want an affordable everyday kibble.
Pros and cons
- Complete and balanced, not just a topper
- Grain free, gluten free, wheat free
- No added hormones
- Works as meal, topper, or treat
- 14 oz bag is a small quantity for daily feeding
- Premium freeze-dried format costs more than standard kibble
Performance notes
The nuggets are labeled complete and balanced, so they can replace a full meal rather than only supplement one. The listed calcium-to-phosphorus ratio, about 1.06 to 1, is a detail raw feeders commonly check when evaluating bone content balance.
