Overview
The Simmax 32GB USB 2.0 flash drive is a basic swivel-cap thumb drive meant for everyday file transfer and backup rather than high-speed work, with a metal clip that rotates to protect the USB connector.
This is a USB 2.0 drive, not USB 3.0, so transfer speeds will be noticeably slower than newer flash drives, which matters if you are moving large video files regularly. The listing itself notes usable capacity runs 29.1 to 29.8GB rather than the full 32GB, which is normal for flash storage after formatting overhead but worth knowing before you plan exactly how much to load onto it.
- 32GB capacity, approximately 29GB usable
- USB 2.0 connector
- Swivel metal clip design
- Compatible with Windows XP through 10, Mac and Linux
Who it's for
Suits anyone who needs a cheap, simple drive for documents, photos or smaller file transfers between older and newer computers. Not the right choice for large video files or anyone who wants USB 3.0 speeds.
Pros and cons
- Swivel design protects the connector without a removable cap
- Broad OS compatibility including older Windows versions and Mac
- Simple plug and play with no software needed
- USB 2.0 speed, slower than USB 3.0 drives
- Usable capacity is roughly 29GB, not the full 32GB
Performance notes
As a USB 2.0 device, real-world transfer speeds top out well below USB 3.0 drives, which is the main tradeoff for the low price. The swivel metal clip retracts the connector into the plastic body, protecting the USB port during transport without needing a separate cap that can get lost.
