Overview
A spinning hard disk inside a minimalist metal case gives this Seagate One Touch large portable capacity powered by a single USB cable. Backup software runs at one click or on a schedule, and Rescue services cover recovery if data is lost.
Rescue data recovery on top of the warranty adds protection for large archives carried around. Being a mechanical drive, it is heavier and more sensitive to knocks than flash storage.
Who it's for
People who want lots of portable space for photos, videos and backups with recovery insurance. Editors who need speed should choose a portable SSD.
Pros and cons
- Large portable capacity
- Data recovery service included
- Photo software included
- USB bus powered
- Spinning disk speed
- Sensitive to knocks
- Time Machine may need reformatting
Performance notes
Read and write rates are set by the spinning disk inside, so big single files move steadily while many small ones take longer. Bus power from the USB port limits the setup to one cable. Rescue services help after accidental deletion or failure.
