Overview
Not a dash mounted CB set, the Radtel is a slim metal handheld that receives a wide spread of bands from longwave to airband. A port for an external shortwave antenna improves reception, and a programming cable comes in the box.
Wide band listening in a pocket size radio suits hobbyists who like shortwave and SSB. Without the SW and MW antennas, those bands will be weak out of the box.
Who it's for
Listeners exploring shortwave, aviation and SSB get broad coverage in a tough metal case. Truckers wanting a dash CB should look at a mobile unit.
Pros and cons
- Wide reception coverage
- Metal, crush resistant body
- External SW antenna port
- Programming cable included
- SW/MW antennas not included
- Transmit specs not listed
- Power output not stated
Performance notes
Reception on low bands depends on antenna length, which is why the external antenna port matters. SSB modes let you hear voice signals that AM radios cannot decode. Large channel memory organizes saved frequencies.
