Overview
A new Tour Fast Mantle layer around the core drives ball speed in the Callaway Chrome Tour X, while a tuned aerodynamic package steadies flight. The cover is built for feel and spin control on short shots around the green.
Consistency is what Callaway stresses here: every layer is measured through its Precision Technology process. The X version shares its description with the standard Chrome Tour, so the listing does not explain how the two differ. Construction details like layer count are absent.
Who it's for
Low and mid handicap players who need both distance and short game spin are the target. Beginners losing several balls a round should choose a simpler model.
Pros and cons
- Mantle layer engineered for speed
- Aerodynamics tuned for steady flight
- Cover built for greenside control
- Heavy focus on manufacturing consistency
- Ball count per box not listed
- Differences from standard Chrome Tour unexplained
- Tour ball suits faster, skilled swings
Performance notes
Ball speed comes from how the core and mantle layers compress and rebound at impact. Dimple aerodynamics govern how steadily it holds its line in wind. Around the green, the cover's grip on the clubface sets how much spin a wedge produces.
