Overview
A spinning hard disk inside a compact shell connects over a single USB cable that also powers it. Password protection backed by hardware encryption guards the files, and visual backup software sets up automatic copies.
Hardware encryption on a small, light drive makes it a sensible home for private laptop backups. The capacity is small, so large video or game libraries will outgrow it quickly.
Who it's for
Students and office workers carrying sensitive documents get password protection in a small drive. Anyone storing hours of video should look at larger capacities.
Pros and cons
- Hardware encryption with password
- Backup software included
- Works on newer and older USB ports
- Small and light
- Mechanical disk, slower than flash
- Speeds not listed
Performance notes
Transfer speed depends on the port: the newer USB standard gives quicker copies, while older ports slow it down. The spinning disk handles large files steadily but slows with many small files. Encryption runs in hardware, so protection does not lean on the computer.
