Overview
Photographers, videographers and field researchers get a LaCie drive wrapped in a shock absorbing shell that shrugs off drops, rain, dust and crushing. It connects over USB-C to the latest Macs and PCs, and works with Thunderbolt ports too.
Rugged protection and data recovery services make it a safer carry drive than a bare portable. Inside is a hard disk, so speeds trail rugged SSDs.
Who it's for
Outdoor creators and travelers who need tough, high capacity storage. Studio editors working from external media should choose a fast SSD.
Pros and cons
- Rugged weather resistant shell
- USB-C and Thunderbolt compatible
- Rescue recovery included
- Adobe trial included
- Hard disk speed
- Cable list varies in listing
- Heavier than slim drives
Performance notes
Ruggedness comes from the outer bumper and internal shock mounting, which protect the spinning disk from impacts. Transfer speed is set by the hard disk, not the USB-C link. Bus power from USB-C means no adapter in the field.
